How to Obtain an Absence from Work Certificate

Obtaining an Absence from Work Certificate is a straightforward process. You can visit us during our opening hours, and no appointments are necessary. However, if you prefer to attend at a specific time, you can book ahead for added convenience.

How Your Pharmacist Can Help

When you visit your pharmacist, they will consult with you to assess your situation. Our pharmacists can issue an Absence from Work Certificate for up to two days of work for the following reasons:

• Personal Leave: If you are unable to work due to injury or personal illness.
• Carer’s Leave: If you are required to look after someone who is unwell.

Conditions Not Assessed by Pharmacists:

While our pharmacists are professionally qualified to assess many health concerns, there are certain conditions for which they cannot issue an Absence from Work Certificate. These include:

• Pregnancy-Related Concerns: Unless they are minor ailments within their scope of practice.
• Compassionate or Bereavement Leave: For these situations, you should contact your employer or HR department.
• Extension to an Existing Certificate: If you need an extension, you should consult with a healthcare provider.
• Events That Occurred in the Past: Certificates are for current absences only.
• Purposes Other Than Personal or Carer’s Leave: Certificates can only be issued as evidence of your need for personal or carer’s leave.

Supervised RAT Testing: Meet Your Requirements for Travel

This service is a RAT test that is physically conducted by health professionals. Point-of-Care testing (i.e. PCR) is outside of the scope of this service. This service involves the pharmacist making a declaration that they have supervised and witnessed a patient conduct a self-test according to the manufacturer’s instructions (Supervised RAT Test).

It is the responsibility of the patient who intends to use the certificate for travel to confirm that a Supervised RAT Test will be acceptable. We recommend that patients FIRST check the requirements of the airline and the country they are travelling to, to CONFIRM that a Supervised RAT Test is acceptable.

What to know in preparation for your appointment:

• Arrive 5 minutes early to your appointment
• You will be required to sign a consent form
• You will need to wait 15 minutes for the test result
